Care Level
The care level is a classification that indicates how much support a person in need of care requires. There are five care levels, ranging from 1 (low need) to 5 (high need). For example, someone with care level 2 may need help with dressing and personal hygiene.
For residents in Germany, the care level is important because it determines the amount of financial support from long-term care insurance. A higher care level means more financial resources and assistance. It is essential to apply for a care level in a timely manner, as processing can take some time. This is relevant under § 14 SGB XI, which defines the need for care.
