Payment Order
A payment order is a court document informing a person that another person is demanding money from them. If someone does not pay a bill, the creditor can apply for a payment order to enforce payment. For example, if you haven’t paid a bill for a service, the service provider can issue a payment order against you.
For residents in Germany, it is important to know that you must respond to a payment order within two weeks to avoid legal consequences. Ignoring the payment order can lead the creditor to take further legal action, potentially resulting in enforcement measures. Relevant here is § 688 ff. of the German Code of Civil Procedure (ZPO).
