Child Supplement
The Child Supplement is a government benefit designed to support families with low income. It is paid in addition to child benefits to help cover children’s basic needs. For example, if a family earns too little to cover living expenses, they can apply for the Child Supplement.
For residents in Germany or Austria, it is important to submit the application for the Child Supplement on time to receive the support. The amount of the supplement depends on income and the number of children. Relevant sections include §§ 6a and 6b of the Federal Child Benefit Act (BKGG).
