Distance Selling Contract

A distance selling contract is an agreement between a seller and a buyer made without them meeting in person. This often happens online, such as when shopping on the internet. An example would be buying a new phone from an online store.

For residents in Germany and Austria, it is important to know that they have a 14-day right of withdrawal (§ 355 BGB). This means they can cancel the purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. Common mistakes include not adhering to the deadline or misunderstanding who pays for return shipping, which is not always the buyer’s responsibility.
