Sick Pay

Sick pay is financial support you receive from your health insurance when you are unable to work due to illness for more than six weeks. For example, if you have surgery and cannot work for several weeks, you are entitled to sick pay.

For residents in Germany and Austria, it is crucial to submit your sick leave notification on time, as you will rely on sick pay after six weeks without salary. Sick pay usually amounts to 70% of your gross income, but no more than 90% of your net income. The relevant legal basis can be found in the SGB V. Make sure to complete all necessary forms correctly to avoid delays.
