Minijob

A Minijob is a form of marginal employment where you can earn up to 520 euros per month without having to pay social security contributions. For instance, if you work at a café on weekends and earn 400 euros a month, that qualifies as a Minijob.

For residents of Germany and Austria, it is important to know that Minijobs often do not provide pension rights unless you choose to contribute to the pension scheme. Be careful not to exceed the income limit of 520 euros, as this could turn into regular employment, which comes with additional legal obligations. The relevant laws can be found in § 8 SGB IV.
